Blog site on Blogger

I set up a new blog site on Blogger yesterday, and it almost happened by accident. The site actually came up when I began tinkering with the settings for Blogger. Learn about my experiences with Blogger and my thoughts on moving between different content management systems.

Update January 2022: The below site has been discontinued, and I have moved all my blogs to this site- with the exception of my podcasting blog. -Amar Vyas

My Blogging Experiment on Blogger

In a matter of hours, I published five blog posts on that site, which gave rise to a thought: What if I continue publishing multiple times a day (say, 3 to 4 posts per day) for an entire month? This impromptu experiment in high-frequency blogging proved to be an interesting test of endurance and content strategy.

Blogger Content Management System

1.1. Setting Up on a New Platform

The setup on blogger was initially accidental. While simply tinkering with the settings, the configuration of the site took shape. It highlights how quickly one can spin up a new presence on the Blogger platform without complex hosting configurations.

1.2. The Frequency Challenge

The core of the experiment was consistency. The goal was to push out 3 to 4 posts daily. This approach forces a writer tocurate ideas rapidly and reduces the pressure of perfectionism. It shifts the focus from crafting a masterpiece to effective communication and sharing thoughts in real-time.

1.3. Early Results and Momentum

Publishing five posts in just a few hours demonstrated that momentum is key. Once the barrier to entry is lowered, the flow of content becomes much smoother. This phase of the experiment validated that a consistent output can generate immediate engagement and personal satisfaction.

Way Forward : Blog Site on Blogger

While the experiment was exciting, the long-term strategy requires a stable and flexible infrastructure. Managing content across different platforms eventually leads to fragmentation, making consolidation a necessary step for serious bloggers in 2024.

2.1. Switching from Blogger

At some point in time, I might switch out from Blogger back to a self-hosted Content Management System. While Blogger is excellent for quick setups, ownership of data and the ability to extend functionality are limited compared to self-hosted solutions.

2.2. Exploring Bludit and ClassicPress

I am considering platforms like Bludit, or even a migration to ClassicPress. These platforms offer the security and flexibility of modern CMS software without the complexity or bloat often associated with larger systems. ClassicPress, in particular, appeals to those who prefer a traditional, stable editing experience.

2.3. Consolidation Strategy

As of August 2021, this short-lived experiment came to an end as I began consolidating my blogging hosts. Moving everything to a unified location ensures better maintenance and a clearer audience journey. It eliminates the confusion of managing multiple URLs and focus on quality over quantity.
